which sealant is best for indian Stone solvent based or water based?
It all depends on how you want the sealed paving to look, a solvent based sealer will enhance the colours and leave the paving looking like it does when it is damp, whereas the water based sealer will leave the paving looking more like it does when the paving is dry.

Hi, I’m looking at buying some of the gloss finish sealer from you. Can you advise me on a few things please. 1, can this be applied to External Porcelain tiles? 2, what’s the best way to apply this? & 3, what’s the coverage of the a 5 liter tin? Questions 2 & 3 are probably on you site somewhere but if it’s not in big letters I’ll never find it! Apologies.

If you are wanting a gloss finish on external tiles I would recommend using out High gloss PU (link below), Porcelain can be tricky to get sealers to adhere to, especially if they are glazed which is why I suggest the PU as this has very good adhesion properties.

I have a large drive that I jet wash each year however each year the drive needs to be re-done as the blocks are becoming more discoloured and have moss around them. can you recommend a sealant I should apply to improve the finish of the drive, reduce the discolouring and keep the moss at bay?
Most people don’t realise that jet washing paving regular is very bad for the surface, jet washing accelerates wear effectively reducing the lift span of the paving, as well as this is makes the surface rougher which is better for moss and algae, allowing them to get a better hold on the surface and finally, jet washing when the sand isn’t sealed can remove too much sand and over time will start to affect the sub base which can cause the block to become unseated and become unstable.
I always recommend the people seal their paving as it helps to reduce the moss and algae build up and protects the surface which means it will last much longer before it needs to be replaced.
The sealer I always use and recommend for block paving is our Block paving and imprinted concrete SP sealer (link below), this sealer will give you the best protection and give the best finish.

I have uncovered a stone wall inside my house. The stone needs sealed to stop dust but it is also dull looking. What would be the best product of yours to use? I would prefer a gloss finish to a Matt finish. As it’s an internal wall I understand it needs to be able to breathe or damp becomes an issue. Please can you advise?
For an Internal wall I would recommend using our Water based sealer (link below), it is safe to work with when applying it to a vertical surface and it has very little odour so wont smell the house out.

l have had a patio laid two years ago with Indian stone and didn’t realise how easily it stained. I am going to clean it this spring and would like to see if l can protect it with a sealer but not darken the colour if possible, could you please advise, approximately 85 square meters area,
As you are looking to keep the paving looking as it does when it is dry I would recommend the Water based Matt sealer (link below) this will have very little effect on the appearance but will offer a good amount of protection for the stone.

I have recently made a concrete table for use inside. I was looking at possibly using your smart stain to make it a darker shade as it didn’t really come out as dark as I had liked. Wondered what it was like to use on new works. Also was looking at your polyeurethene gloss sealer. Was just looking for some advice really.
Yes the Smart colour will be ok to use and the High gloss PU will give a very nice gloss finish.
In regards to the prep work you will need to acid wash and profile the surface to remove any dusty material from the surface and to increase the porosity (there are a couple of videos on the website to show you what to look for when prepping the surface).

can I use this product effectively in a shower area
I have Travertine tiles in my own bathroom, I sealed it with the High gloss PU about 4 years ago and it still looks good as new. The only thing I will say is you need to let the sealer cure for a at least 48 hours before using the area.

I want to seal my outside slate patio with a heavy duty high gloss sealer, which product would you recommend please?
You have a couple of options (links below) the Heavy duty sealer is the cheaper of the two and is easier to use but wont last as long, whereas the High gloss PU will last longer but you have to make sure that the paving is 100% dry and that you will have at least 5-6 hours of dry weather once it has been applied.

I have a terrace of indian sandstone which has developed terrible black spot lichen everywhere. I have pressure hosed off as much as possible but cant get it all off. If I could keep it like it is that would be ok even tho some spots remain.
Would your Stone and Slate Protector prevent the regrowth of the lichens and algae.
Yes applying sealer to the surface will stop the algae and lichen from being able to take hold on the paving (it may form on the surface but it will be easy to wash off/treat), if the algae does come back (if there are a lot of trees in you area) it can be treated with our moss and algae remover which you just spray on to the paving and leave to do its thing.

I have a welsh slate floor that was put down 5 years ago in a kitchen. It needs re-protecting as the original stuff I applied has now rubbed off and some small areas now have the bare stone showing (places where chair legs have rubbed etc).
What’s your advice for this in terms of products you suggest and the method of application?
I would suggest using the High gloss PU, this is a very hardwearing sealer, but I would suggest removing the old sealer first as it is obviously having issues with adhesion.
