Slate sealer.

We have read reviews on the going expert site that have lead us to want to try your products.
We have a slate patio we have juts completed and the client wants it sealing to bring our the colours in the slate.
Do you stock anything water based for slate that can be applied immediately after install?

Unfortunately the one drawback of water based sealers is that they don’t enhance the colours in the paving so leave it looking more like it does when it is dry as opposed to when it is wet.

If you are looking to enhance the colours you will have to use a solvent based sealer such as the one below.

Granite patio impregnator

I had a garden patio recently laid with granite slabs.
I want to prevent staining, grease, oil, ink etc but do not want a surface sealer, I need an impregnating sealer that will not require frequent relaying.
I was recommended Advanced HD sealant , but your web site says it gives a surface sheen and I do not want any change to the natural granite appearance.
What would you recommend and can you provide a sample to try on a small area?

Unfortunately what you are asking for, the sealer not to show but last a long time, is kind of an either or situation. Invisible sealers such as you are asking for are more like a stain guard rather than a sealer and as such offers little to no protecting agains wear, so needs regular re-coating, a sealer on the other hand will last years before needing re-coating but will leave a finish to the surface.

I think your best bet might be to try the Water based matt sealer (link below) this will offer the longevity you want with minimal change to the appearance when the stone is dry.

Resin bound drive resealing.

Approx. 3years ago I had my drive covered. It looked lovely however the sealant used caused a bubbling effect in a few odd spots.The whole area was re- skimmed. It was never sealed. Can you advise if there is a suitable product available which would be unlikely to cause problems.

I have come across this before, you have to be very, very careful applying a solvent based sealer on resin bound stone, you have to apply several mist coats, if you apply it too thickly you get the problem you had.
Because of this I now always recommend using a water based sealer, because there is no solvent there is no risk off it affecting the Stone.

If I buy a 25 litre drum and do not use it all , will it stay ok in the drum so could be used when needed doing again or will it go off

As long as the container is closed and it is protected from frost it will keep for a couple of years.

black limestone sealer

Please can you tell me what you recommend to seal for new laid black limestone we require a wet look finish

I recommend using the stone and slate as some black limestone can be quite nonporous and this sealer is a bit thinner so penetrates better, I also suggest scrubbing in the first coat to help aid with the adhesion.

if you are still looking for more of a gloss finish (the finish can depend on the stone), you could apply a top coat of our Heavy duty which will give more of a gloss/wet look finish.

To mix the adgrip with the sealant my husband wants to know if it can be mixed in a plastic trough.?

If by plastic trough you mean a roller bucket then yes, if you mean something like a planter then no,

The solvent in the sealer can melt some plastics.

The Adgrip does mix pretty easily all you need to do is add it to the drum and either up end it a few times or roll it around on the grass a few times, if the can is stood for 5-10 mins you will need to give it a quick mix again.

Staining a new driveway

We have just had a driveway done and the flags are too light in colour (I like them when they are wet!) Looking to darken them up in a grey but need to know exact colour and maybe try them out first (I have spare flags to test on)

If the flags look ok when they are wet then all you need to do is apply a sealer, this will leave the flags looking like they do when they are wet and it will protect them from stains and general wear and tear.

I have linked a couple of products below (you didn’t say if they were concrete or natural stone flags) the first one is for concrete surfaces and the second is for stone.

Endura Faux Fusion

I am interested in using this product and was wondering what is the best way to apply this product, I noticed that you sell special brushes to apply stains but I wanted to know if you can apply Endura Faux Fusion with a roller, also does it need to be sealed after application?

The Endura can be applied by brush, roller or sprayer, and yes it does need sealing after, ideally with the water based sealer

Best sealant for Indian Stone?

which sealant is best for indian Stone solvent based or water based?

It all depends on how you want the sealed paving to look, a solvent based sealer will enhance the colours and leave the paving looking like it does when it is damp, whereas the water based sealer will leave the paving looking more like it does when the paving is dry.

Sealing Porcelain tiles

Hi, I’m looking at buying some of the gloss finish sealer from you. Can you advise me on a few things please. 1, can this be applied to External Porcelain tiles? 2, what’s the best way to apply this? & 3, what’s the coverage of the a 5 liter tin? Questions 2 & 3 are probably on you site somewhere but if it’s not in big letters I’ll never find it! Apologies.

If you are wanting a gloss finish on external tiles I would recommend using out High gloss PU (link below), Porcelain can be tricky to get sealers to adhere to, especially if they are glazed which is why I suggest the PU as this has very good adhesion properties.
